YOU DESERVE BETTER
We spend a lot of our time, money, and energy chasing “perfection.” We attempt every shiny new diet that comes along, hoping each time that this one will be the magic bullet we desperately desire (even though they’re all duds). We often participate in exercise we hate because we think it’s what we’re supposed to do. Or we fear exercising at all because we feel like outsiders when it comes to standard fitness culture. We force ourselves into clothing that supposedly “flatters” our bodies, and we decline invites to events where we might have to worry what other people will say and think about our bodies.
And why wouldn’t we do all of these things? This is the expected outcome when the media, the fashion industry, and society at large have told us our whole lives that we are not enough. Not pretty enough, not thin enough, and not worth taking seriously. These unrealistic expectations coupled with a multi-billion dollar weight-loss industry that preys on our insecurities are killing our self-esteem and making us feel ashamed of our authentic selves.
Are you fed up? I know I am, and that’s why I’ve dedicated my life to helping people break out of the cycle of yo-yo dieting, boring and brutal exercise, and feelings of unworthiness. If you’re ready to put the fad diets, gimmicks, juices cleanses, and guilt behind you, I’m ready to help you step into your power and start taking up the space you were made to take up with exercise, nutrition, and lifestyle coaching.
If you’re open to shifting your attention away from doing whatever it takes to look your best and beginning to focus on what makes you feel your best instead, we can make some magic together.
Meet Your Coach
Hi there! I’m Shohreh Davoodi, a weight-neutral wellness coach for women and non-binary people. I’m certified in personal training and nutrition, and I’m a proponent of intuitive eating and joyful movement. I’m also a former attorney, a lover of glitter and unicorns, and a dog mom.
I used to be a cardio queen, dutifully jogging on the treadmill chasing the results that women’s magazines had promised me even though I didn’t even like to run. My relationship with food was wrapped up in guilt, shame, and morality. And I allowed my inner mean girl to say things to myself that I would never say to someone else.
My entire life seemed to revolve around getting smaller and fitting into the mold of whatever society had deemed most beautiful at the time. Many a late night was spent on Google searching “how to lose weight fast” before I decided that something had to change. I was tired of prioritizing the way I looked over the way I felt, so I set out to do things differently.
I searched for exercise that I could enjoy. That led me to strength training, which brought on a wave of confidence and new abilities. I stopped relentlessly pursuing shrinking and became enamored with the things my body could do instead of how my body looked. I adopted an intuitive eating approach to food and learned how to tune into my body’s signals around hunger, fullness, and cravings, leaving restrictive food behaviors behind.
I moved further and further away from diet culture and started to divorce my self-worth from what I looked like. It wasn’t easy. It took time and effort and required me to reassess my values. But today I am strong, self-compassionate, and thriving as a result.
And I want all of those things for you, too. I want to help you sift through the noise and misinformation out there so you can find what works for you and your unique life. I will be your coach, confidant, and friend. I will collaborate with you and truly listen to you to make sure your needs are being met. Instead of focusing your energy on reaching a particular number on the scale or achieving a specific body shape like so many times in the past, we will work together to heal your relationship with exercise, food, and your body.
